Meet David

Born in Canada and raised in Ireland, David has been lucky enough to have had many diverse and interesting jobs along the way. From managing a boat hire business in Ireland, setting up his own forestry business in Scotland, building wooden boats in England and the USA (which was really cool), to the construction of timber framed homes in Canada.

Those experiences have enabled David to acquire the skills to be able to dialogue and negotiate with people from all walks of life and different countries. “It’s so important”, David says, “The real estate business is about building trusting relationships with people. The whole process can be hugely emotional for a lot of people”.

If there is one particular thing that David stresses, it’s “listening”. “I hate being talked at by someone trying to sell me something, all of us do! So why would I want to do that to someone else? Listen to people, have a conversation, build trust”.

David now resides in Nelson with his wife, and daughter, having lived in Kaslo for the previous 7 years. He is quick to point out that he operates from the Kaslo office at least 5 days a week, whilst still covering the North Kootenay Lake and Nelson area as well.

“It’s better all round – I find I can still serve the Kaslo area and all the people that know me, and cover Nelson too. The two areas are surprisingly complimentary as I have clients in Nelson wanting to move up the lake and vice versa, and for clients I am dealing with who are thinking of relocating from out of province or abroad they are often researching an area around Kaslo and Nelson before deciding what they want to do”.

And it shows – David was the top producing Realtor® for 2009 in the Coldwell Banker Rosling Real Estate office in Nelson and Kaslo as well as being an MLS® Gold award winner for being in the top 10% of all realtors in the Kootenay Real Estate Board.
